5 Steps To Craft Your Perfect Morning Routine
So, you have decided that you are going to be an early riser from now on. You are filled with fiery motivation and can’t wait to turn around your life for the better. Perfect! You are already well on your way to crafting a much better life for yourself. But what about crafting the right morning routine?
Having a morning routine is critical if you want to take full advantage of being an early riser. And it only makes sense. What would you even do with the extra time you’ll have? A morning routine provides the perfect opportunity to get into some great habits that will make your life all-around awesome. So, let’s take a look at how you can craft a strong morning routine.
1 | Make A List
First, you need to sit down and make a list of all the things you would like to do. You don’t have to be too careful at this point; just write down everything that comes to mind. Doing so will give you clarity as to what you consider important enough to be part of your morning routine.
2 | Sort Tasks According To Importance
Now, sort all the tasks that you had written down by their order of importance. This will give you even more clarity and help filter out anything that doesn’t provide much value. Now you will have a list of all the activities that you really want to do and can do. Just make sure that you can actually do all of them every single morning.
3 | Schedule The Tasks
Next comes scheduling. This is a very important step because it is important to know and understand how long any single task will take. There may be tasks that you would want to do for longer than the others. So, it can take you quite some time to figure out how much time to allot to each activity.
Try to be as precise as possible. Even a few minutes here and there can lead to a big difference overall. Once you think you have the perfect schedule, put it on your calendar. It’s better if it is digital as making changes will be easier. I personally don’t use a fancy calendar app, my favorite is good ol’ faithful Google Calendar.
4 | Test And Refine
Even though you initially think that you have the perfect morning routine, you will eventually realize that you need to make changes. And that’s completely okay! Just test your routine out and you’ll know in a few days what you need to change. You could add and remove certain tasks or you could change the order in which you do them. Eventually, you will have the right morning routine for you.
5 | Follow Through
This is probably the hardest part, but if you’re determined to be a better person, it won’t matter. Follow through with your morning routine every single day. There will be some mornings where you won’t want to do anything, but it is on those days that you need to push harder. This is because a single off day can lead to a series of off days and before you know it, you will back to your old routine. Follow my “2-Day” rule - never go more than two days without following your morning routine.
To Wrap Up
Crafting the perfect morning routine depends on who you are, what you do, and what your preferences are. There is no single morning routine that is perfect for everybody. So, you might need to do a little digging and soul searching before making a routine. By following a handful of simple steps, you can craft a morning routine that is right for you.
